Behind the Lens
Welcome! I'm Taylor of Taylor Clarke Photography, and I'm glad you stopped by my website and gallery.
Photography is one of my lifelong hobbies turned passion. It stemmed from my years in elementary and middle school, pre camera phones, when everyone carried around a compact digital camera to capture their memories and yes, even "selfies" were a thing back then. However, I always found myself wanting to take more interesting photos and often wandered around my family's farm for hours on end taking photos of ordinary things and trying to make them stand out. I decided to continue this hobby in high school and took two years of darkroom photography classes, where my passion for photography really began to flourish. For two years I used my family's old manual Canon camera and learned photography from the bottom up; developing my own film and processing my own photos using darkroom and chemical techniques. I'll be honest...it was tough work! I credit that experience completely for helping me fully understand and appreciate photography.
So in 2013, I finally got my hands on a Canon DSLR and that's when I could really begin to stretch my legs. The rest, as they say, is history. For a long time, I continued to do photography completely for myself and as my own creative outlet, and then started to slowly branch out and take photos for family and friends. In 2016, I officially launched Taylor Clarke Photography in hopes to get out of my comfort zone and share my passion with the world. Coming from a strong agricultural and livestock background, many of my photos reflect that and animal/livestock photography still remains my heart and soul.
I am originally from Maryland but currently reside in Knoxville, Tennessee while I attend The University of Tennessee (Go Vols!) pursuing a degree in Agricultural Communications.
Some more fun facts: My Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Mowgli, and my Boxer, Matt, are my best friends and my entire world. I have a 12 year old barn cat named Hugh Hefner who is cooler than me. I quote The Office pretty much daily. Turquoise everything....literally. Johnny Cash is my hero. I love my vinyl record player and love collecting old vinyls - my favorite of my collection is Willie Nelson's "Stardust". If I could travel the country in a camper, I would. I am an iced coffee addict. And lastly but surely not least, I am a bit of a music snob.
